What is Flying Home
A celebration, a community event, a fundraiser and more! On the evening of October 8, 2010, we are holding our 5th annual Flying Home Event. This year we are changing venues and moving to the Eagan Community Center. The event will be Friday night instead of Saturday. We will have appetizers, desserts, beverages, celebrity decorated birdhouses, other birdhouses attached to items for live and silent auctions, entertainment and lots of fun. We’re working on some great surprises and a big goal of raising over $60,000.
Why Flying Home
Families at Dakota Woodlands are in “flight”—they are all trying to get somewhere in their lives. They are trying to find permanent housing, completing more education to earn a better job, or finding a job to support their families. They are all flying toward a destination—and it’s Dakota Woodlands that ultimately helps them to find their way home. The event will feature stories and beautiful photos of former residents who have already flown home.
How You can Help…
Do you have a silent auction item to donate?
Do you know someone else who does?
Do you want to decorate a birdhouse?
Key to this event are the birdhouse packages. The birdhouses are an art show! We ask friends, celebrities, community leaders, companies to decorate a birdhouse, which we provide. They are simple wooden houses from Michaels Craft Store. All decorators donate something to add value to the birdhouse; tickets, gift cards, or other gifts we would be happy to brainstorm with you. They are auctioned, in live and silent auctions.
