Grace's Story

Grace moved into Dakota Woodlands with her three daughters. While here Grace’s daughters continued to attend the same elementary school, they had previously attended.  The family had built a positive support network with the staff and community. This familiarity for the kids helps decrease the amount of change that her daughters were going through while facing homelessness. Families facing homelessness have many areas of change and uncertainty, it brings a sense of relief and comfort to know that you will be attending the same school, seeing the same teachers, and keeping up with your friends.  

While here at Dakota Woodlands, Grace took advantage of our Rent Wise classes and received a certificate of completion. The classes helped her to understand some of the most crucial pieces in the rental process from selecting a new apartment that meets the needs of her family and how to budget appropriately for it.  

Grace also took advantage of case management services and worked closely with Kytonya to follow through with necessary paperwork, appointments, and apartment searches. 

We congratulate Grace for doing the work to move her family forward in their journey!
