Dakota Woodlands is the only shelter for families experiencing homelessness in Dakota County. Many displaced families seek shelter at Dakota Woodlands hoping to secure independence through a person-centered care partnership and supportive services that lead to affordable housing.

- Assist families with removing barriers that prevent them from moving into affordable housing.
- Connect families with services that help sustain independence after leaving the Shelter.
- Provide families with social opportunities, transportation, arrange for meetings, medical appointments, social services, and remind clients to take medications that are self-administered.
- Offer specialized training offerings to help families build confidence in life skills that help maintain stability and independence.
