It was an anticipated day when we received the message from Minnesota Department of Health and Hennepin Healthcare that they were scheduling a clinic at Dakota Woodlands to administer the COVID-19 vaccination to residents and staff members. The day the clinic arrived at our Shelter, we had many registered waiting to receive the vaccine, a total of 46 people. The nurses onsite fielded questions and concerns from participants and distributed documentation about the vaccine prior to giving the 1st dose of a 2 dose vaccination series. They were able to help residents better understand the risks and benefits to help make the right decision for them.
Participating in the vaccination initiative helps our community at the Shelter stay safe and decrease risk of potential spread. As a congregate community, we will continue to keep safety protocols in place, but we are one step closer to getting back to normal.
A member of our Dakota Woodlands' community receives the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, and she is doing well!
